The period after a laser session matters just as much as the treatment itself for how results actually turn out — skin is more sensitive immediately afterward, and aftercare habits directly affect both healing and how well results hold up over time.
Immediately after most laser treatments, skin can be pink, mildly swollen, or sensitive for a period ranging from hours to a few days depending on the treatment type and intensity. Keeping the area clean, avoiding harsh actives (retinoids, strong exfoliants) until fully healed, and using a gentle, fragrance-free moisturiser generally supports faster, smoother recovery.
Sun protection deserves particular emphasis: treated skin is more vulnerable to UV damage during recovery, and unprotected sun exposure can undo progress or, worse, trigger new pigmentation issues in the treated area. This is especially relevant given daily, intense UV exposure — sunscreen isn't optional in the weeks following a session, it's part of the treatment plan.
